Reason(s) for choosing to take a course for dual credit:

• I took the hairstyling and aesthetics class at Centre Hastings Secondary School (CHSS) and my guidance counsellor suggested the course
• I want to become an esthetician and someday own my own spa. I thought that taking the dual credit course at Loyalist would be a great opporutnity to gain practical experience while being in a college atmosphere.

Benefits and Challenges:

• I have learned how to do many spa manicure treatments that I did not know how to do before. (Paraffin wax treatment, nail mending, calcium kapping, hand scrub etc.)
• I entered the dual credit program at Loyalist
• At times it was difficult to juggle the dual credit program, co-op, and the course I was taking at high school. I think that students who take the dual credit program need to be mature, responsible, and hardworking students.

Change of outlook regarding post-secondary destination?:

• I feel that I am more prepared for going to a post-secondary institution next year because of the dual credit program.
• This program has given me an opportunity to get an idea of what it is like to attend post-secondary
