Our Story
When the provincial government introduced the Secondary School Reform plan in 1997, several major goals were identified. One such goal was to provide students with clear pathways from secondary schools to college programs which in turn would relate to employment opportunities. It is generally accepted that post-secondary education should provide graduates with skills that lead to employment. What is the School / College / Work Initiative?
The School/College/Work Initiative is a cooperative effort of the Council of Ontario Directors of Education (CODE) and the Committee of College Presidents (COP) and is jointly funded by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. A Co-Management Team consisting of college presidents, school board directors, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities personnel manages SCWI and works with all district school boards and all colleges through 16 Regional Planning Teams, across the province. - more
The Team
PASS (Partnering to Achieve Student Success) is one of the 16 Regional Planning Teams in Ontario that were established to support the mandate of the School to College to Work (SCWI) initiative. As the Regional Planning Team of Eastern Ontario, PASS operates as a school/college/community partnership that provides direction, opportunities and support for students exploring educational and career possibilities. As well, PASS offers a venue for teachers, administrators, faculty members and community leaders to collaboratively work to increase opportunities for student success.
The PASS partnership consists of three community colleges, Algonquin College, Loyalist College, St. Lawrence College, nine school boards and two community organizations. - more
